fireplacWe came across this fabulous Easy Programmable EL-Wire Wall Art Project with Cool-Neon Instructable that uses our Cool Neon Arduino Shield.

This is the first paragraph of the Instructable, describing the project:

Blank space, what to do?, what to do?
Our hackerspace has a blank brick wall above the fireplace. It’s been a cold winter so we’ve had a fair number of fires, but there is just something wrong about a blank brick wall. Well in this project I’ll document how to create an animated, Arduino controlled, EL-Wire design mounted in a picture frame, sure to spiff up any lonely chunk of wall space. I’ll go beyond just powering the lights and show how you can control up to 10 different segments of your picture using an aCool-Neon Arudino Shield and a bit of open source software.

We think it is pretty cool and we bet you will too. Thanks to mazzmn for the great project.

honda 8 bridge cityExciting times here at Cool Neon. Our own Benny James designed and installed  High Bright Standard 2.6mm Cool Neon wire and one Big Boy Driver, one Driver Max, and four CAT-09s for the bubbles on the tail, on a 2014 Honda Civic for a commercial that was shot on Treasure Island.

The Honda commercial is called “Today is Pretty Great”.  The line they use for the Cool Neon car is “What about art?”.  Its first airing was during 2 Broke Girls, and from where he is working in Hollywood right now, Benny tells us that the commercials are also in heavy rotation on Comedy Central.
In the 15 second spot below the car is at :06. (If you have a problem getting the videos to load, try refreshing).

In this 2:38 minute spot, our Cool Neon decorated car can be seen at :56 – :58.

If you want to see more, Honda is using the hashtag #LoveToday.

We hope you are as entertained by seeing it as we were in making it.

organic armorWe received a note on our Facebook Page from Organic Armor and we wanted to share it with you.

“The piece is wired with an awesome product by Cool Neon – FunHouse Productions called Total Control Lighting.  This is made of LEDs with an arduino controller. Ping pong balls diffuse the light. We are planning a small swarm of firefly costumes for next summer with the fabulous Whee Ahh Faerie Kin. You can see the firefly costume Paul made for the {Re}HAPPENING event last spring in this little video clip:”

Over here at Cool Neon we love the gorgeous firefly costume and look forward to seeing more of them this summer.  Thanks so much for posting this on our Facebook Page.
